What is Hula Pie? Come See and Celebrate!

It's my birthday and I'll be
celebrating all day long!
This one has no calories so
share a slice with me.

This is Hula Pie from Duke's

and this is Seven Spice Ahi
with Wasabi Sauce, Boc Choi, Mango & rice

garnished with a lovely orchid blossom!

Of course there were presents

and here's a slice of Hula Pie for you ;--)

I'll make some coffee (or tea)
if you'd like to sit down a while and chat.

I enjoyed each and every comment yesterday
and, of course, can revisit them today
whenever I wish ;--)

Happy, happy birthday, storyteller!

We need not accept the number the state assigns us as our age--they don't even know us, after all--we get to decide ourselves!

I'll be 11, and you can be 27.

Deal?

Thanks for sharing. The food looks delicious. My husband likes to take food photos. They always make me hungry!

Happy Birthday!! It is also my favorite musician's birthday too -- Howard Jones, so you are in good company.

It’s a lovely morning in So Cal! Molly and I just returned from a walk along the beach. I decided to go early since there’s no telling when the rains will start again. How nice to find your comments as I sit down at the computer for a bit.

Melissa – Thank you so much! So far it’s been lovely.

Joy – I appreciate your enthusiastic wishes and shall follow your advice to a “T” … because I can.

Nicole – What a delightful comment! I’m happy to share these electronic “treats” with all who pass this way. When I visited your blog previously I don’t think I realized you live in Kuwait and I’m curious how you got there. I’ll visit more when time permits. I suspect Molly would enjoy meeting both King and Jo Jo.

MPJ – Thanks … and I wish you lived close enough to have joined us as well. I’d love to visit over a cup of coffee.

Yertle - The Seven Spice Ahi is my favorite thing on the menu at Duke’s and I almost always choose it on my birthday. This is the 1st time I’ve photographed it, but I was thinking about sharing on my blog so I remembered to snap these pictures. I’m not sure who Howard Jones is, but I’m glad to be in good company.

I hope you’re all having a delightful day! I appreciate you helping me celebrate my special day.
Hugs and blessings,

Yertle – Thanks for the link. I’ll check it out when time permits and perhaps go have a listen at B&N on my next visit.

Karen – You’re so right! I did … and reliving the experience as I shared it here is fun too.

Cricket – Hmm … tagged on my b-day, eh? I’ll check it out soon.

Mike – I love to be serenaded (especially on my birthday) … so thanks again and a happy belated birthday to your Mom & sister too. (Methinks I forgot that yesterday when I wished you a happy belated b-day).

Onedia – Yup! Hula Pie is Duke’s version of Mudd Pie (see photo in post).

Eve – You’re quite welcome … and thanks for making my birthday all the more special by visiting and sharing your love.

Abrit – Thank you! Yes it was. Jealous? Hmmm … dunno what to say about that. LOL I notice you have a list of 101 Things like I do, so I’ll check that out when time permits. Crazy thing to do, wasn’t it?

I appreciate each of you visiting and leaving comments & links today … making my birthday all the more fun! I hope you have a glorious Sunday. It’s raining here in So Cal so I’ll be hanging around the house … perhaps sitting by the fire reading a good book once I finish with email, responses, blog visits, and posting.

Flip Flop (Sandy?) – I enjoyed my visit there and appreciate you following me back here. It’s certainly no secret that I’m 63 also … born in 1945. How’s that for a coincidence? Yup … pie w/o calories is my favorite kind too. I hope your birthday was as delightful as mine.

Sherck – Thanks and yes … the meal was divinely delicious.

Lucy – I love your enthusiasm and appreciate your visit all the more because I know you’re feeling a bit stressed with things to do before you leave for Paris. I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time!

Peajay – What a pleasant surprise to find another birthday blessing! Methinks I’d love to live to be 100 (or more) as long as I’m healthy and able to be active … so thanks ;--)

It’s good to see you visiting and I hope that means you’re feeling better and it’s easier for you to type. I’ve missed your posts and comments, but I think you’re wise to take whatever time you need to recover fully.
