(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - Photo Fun

ALMOST
(This is my 28th)

In yesterday's Photoshop Elements class
... we started with this 'leaning' photograph

taken at Sea World

Unfortunately I didn't save Step 2 yesterday and my version of Photoshop Elements doesn't have a 'straighten tool' so I can't replicate that step at home right now, but you'll note the guy is standing straighter in the image below. Imagine turning the photo above to the right ... making it a 'diamond shape' within a white square. The next step was to use the 'cloning tool' to fill in the 'white space' around the photo (created in the 4 corners) with water (without inadvertently destroying or creating another dolphin tail or person). Finally we resized and cropped the image to make the 5x7 below.

Pretty nifty, eh?

I shared more lessons learned
at Sacred Ruminations today in another
almost Wordless Wednesday/(belated) BYBS/SLS post.

That's really cool! I can't wait to see what you start doing on your OWN photos...hint, hint, hint...

As mentioned yesterday, I will have to get photoshop and take a class, because this stuff is just to cool.

Very cool trick! I thought they were 2 separate pics :) Love it.

Karen – Heheh. I’m sure I’ll share some of my own photos as I have time to use some of these ‘tools’ with them. That said … I suspect they won’t reveal much about me, my family, or friends mainly because ‘privacy’ remains an issue for me on my blogs.

Betty – You’re welcome. Sharing is my pleasure and it’s good ‘review’ too. Everything went so fast in Tuesday’s class I definitely need to practice before Thursday rolls around and we learn even more.

SnapCatch – I appreciate your visit and comment. I’ll definitely stop by as time permits … possibly later today but Molly wants her walk … now!!!

Sue – Visiting your Urban Zoo is always interesting and today was no exception. Thanks for the return trip here.

Vixen – When I realized my version is missing several of the ‘tools’ we’ve covered, I’m sure I’ll be buying Photoshop 6 soon.

Sandy – I’m amazed at how easy it is to do these kinds of things with the newer version. I’ve tried to do many of these things with the three earlier versions I own, but there’s good reason to spend the money on PSE 6!

I appreciate each of you visiting and sharing your reactions to my post today. Hope you’re all having a wonderful Wednesday … and now I’m headed out to walk my impatient pooch but I’ll be back later to continue blog visits today!

When you get proficient at 'airbrushing' can I send you a photo of me so you can make me look like a film star please? ;)

Such a cool trick! Now I'm decided to really learn it by heart!

Psst...storyteller...can I copy your notes when you're done? I've got some learnin to do.

storyteller said...

Wright – I think so too! Thanks for the visit ;--)

Akelamalu – Heheheheh … sure thing, though methinks the ‘magazine cover’ on your blog is quite glamorous already!

Raven – It’s soooooo much fun to learn this stuph … and even more fun to share that new knowledge here!

Mariposa – There’s so much to keep in mind that I find myself relying on ‘notes’ currently, but with practice and actual use … I’m hoping the skills ‘fix’ themselves in my brain permanently.

Grandy – Of course! You do remember I was a teacher for a long time … and sharing with others is a joy!

I hope you all had a wonderful Wednesday and certainly appreciate you spending a bit of it with me. I’m off to class soon, but hopefully will be visiting blogs later on this afternoon.

That's pretty cool!

Ohhh! You are so getting me excited about Photoshop. :) The straightened photo looks so nice!

Lisa Marie – Today we used the same technique to do even more amazing things. I’m amazed at how easy PSE 6 makes these tasks.

Joyce – It almost looks like a different photo doesn’t it? Today we isolated a woman from a crowd of people, added a ‘missing’ shoulder and turned it into a single oval portrait with a dark background. You’d never guess I’d done anything to it. If you’ve got the time, a class like this is well worth the effort.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. Hope you’re having a wonderful week.

Wow, that's cool! Maybe I should learn, although I don't take many photos anymore as my husband is the family photographer now.

Yertle – Somehow I missed this comment yesterday while clearing out my email box so I’m glad to have found it this morning. I’m having loads of fun with this Photoshop class. I don’t know exactly how (or even if) I’ll put everything (or anything) to use … but the possibilities are endless and it’s nifty to be ‘in the know’ about such techniques. As for your husband being the photographer, he might like you being able to ‘fix’ his photos for him … or perhaps you’ll decide you want to take your own photos again? I didn’t take pictures for almost a decade after my ‘ex’ left but started again when a friend gave me a digital camera. The only 'constant' is change ;--)

This is very neat. I use photoshop but have no idea how to do much of what you can do with it. Hubby is a whiz at it. I really should sit myself down and learn to do things like this. After all, I have tons and tons of digital photos that could use a little help :-o)

Sonya – I’ve had Photoshop for years but, like you, didn’t know how to do more than ‘quick fixes’ on occasional photos. I love the new features in PSE 6 and they’re so simple to use! I’m sure you’d enjoy it too. Hope you’re having a wonderful week.
