Fun Monday #26 and Morning Musings

Make Time for Small Reflections
Scroll down for Fun Monday

It's raining steadily this morning (at the rate of about an inch per hour) after raining throughout the night and apparently there's danger of flash-floods & mud slides in parts of California because this is unusual rainfall for our drought-ridden state.

The 'Grapevine' the El Cajon pass has been closed as of 4am because of snow & ice so commuters are stuck on the highway hoping for a break in the weather. Chains are required for folks in the coastal mountains ... but I'm happily at home waiting for someone to arrive between 8 and noon to install my new Sony Bravia LCD digital flat screen television ;--)
Wow ... that was worrisome!!!
It's been about an hour or so that I've been trying to figure out why no posts showed up here at Small Reflections but the header and sidebar remained and the posts showed up on all my other blogs too. I still don't know what happened, but I'm relieved that things are finally restored. I'm hopeful my posts will remain visible. Now ... back to my new television story!
While taking classes at the Ritz Camera store in Irvine, I noticed they had televisions at quite reasonable prices and inquired about why they were so inexpensive. Apparently it's related to the financial mess & the fact that consumers just aren't spending money the way they used to. The regular 'marked down' price for this particular unit was $949 but the SALE price through the weekend was $779 plus a free Samsung DVD player. Since my current TV is about 20 years old, this seemed like a good time to upgrade to a digital flat screen television.

I've been clearing clutter from my family room/office for a while now and intend to reorient the space ... eventually purchasing new furniture when I can afford to do so. Today's installation will be the first step in that process. This is what it looks like now ... I'll share photos of 'after' when the work is done.

It's almost 11am as I type this part and the installation guy hasn't arrived yet ... but hopefully he'll arrive soon.

Sigh ... 1pm addendum
I called an hour ago and left a message ... called again about
15 minutes ago when I hadn't received a call back. Apparently they've run into difficulties today and are running way behind ... but someone's on the way and should be here before 2pm.

I really don't like this much, but I guess there's not a whole lot I can do at this point but hang around ... so that's what I'm doing. I fixed myself a tuna sandwich and am sipping a glass of milk at the moment ... thinking about 'cookies' but I don't have any in the house. Perhaps that's a good thing?

Interestingly I've tried to visit Fun Monday participants on Gattina's list but most don't have a post up about their Feet Coverings yet and that's frustrating too because I could have used the time to open up Google Reader and/or respond to comments folks have left on my blogs & emails. I don't like to be grumpy, but at this rate I'll never catch up!

SHEESH!!!
Once again I can't SEE my posts on this blog ... though the header and sidebar show up just fine. Is anyone else having problems like this today?

Gattina is today's Fun Monday hostess, and
she wants to know what we wear on our feet at home.
I live in Southern California at the beach ... and it's my front yard pictured in my Fun Monday logo ... so THIS is what my feet look like year round ... (yes even on rainy days like today). When I do put on shoes, they're usually sandals as in the upper right photo in collage.

I'm a little evnvious. I love being barefoot. Unfortunately, in my neck of the woods, that works only about 4 months of a year :o)

yours isn't the only blog that didn't load when I tried to get on earlier.

You have pretty feet -- considering you barefoot all the time.

whooooooeeeeee... I hope that rain eases. Too much blessing at once, huh.

Your sidewalk looks like a river.

I also do the bare feet thing, around the house. It's a little too cold for outside right now, no matter what my son says.

Gosh, I haven't been barefoot for years except in the house.

I can relate to the sandals with you living in Southern California. It's mostly war all the time. Lucky you.

I ♥ the toe ring too. Have a terrific day. Big hug. :)

Betsy had the same problem with her blog earlier in the day and I encountered another blogspot blog with that problem. Hopefully everything has been fixed by now. I also hope that you got your new TV installed. California's weather made the national news today.

I love the photos of your feet. I am barefoot child myself, and seeing the photos just made me feel so very happy. :)

If I had nice weather I might go barefoot too - but my feet get icy if I'm not wearing socks.

Brave woman to take on purchase of a new television. I haven't gotten up the nerve to do so yet--need to since my set is about 20 years as well. So frustrating to wait for "fixers". But wise to hire someone to get your new TV up and running properly.

Do you take advantage of that good CA sand for instant pedicures?

You lucky girl ! I couldn't walk barefoot it's too cold and when it is hot, outside it hurts to be barefoot so I have to put flip flops on or something like that.

I really wish it wasn't but its far too cold here to be bare footed in the winter.

Technical challenges...customer non-service. Good luck! I haven't seen my feet since last October. Or was it September. So looking forward to nudetoes.
