I am reading 'A
Team of Rivals' by Goodwin.
Barack Obama
recommended it
after studying Lincoln's
consensus efforts
and methinks it might
be appropriate for all
members of Congress
to read it as well
as a means to understand
Barack's objectives
as they 'debate' their
policy differences
in these troubled times.
Yesterday was the
200th Annivers'ry
of Abe Lincoln's birth.
Barack Obama
celebrated in Springfield
making this address.
2. The flowers in my yard are happily blossoming ... and there's even an Iris bud beginning to show it's purple colors. Methinks we're going to have Spring here in Southern California before we experience winter.
3. I've captured, collaged, and shared the variable skies before, during, & between rainstorms (along with a bit of Haiku on days other than Fridays) ... just because.
4. It looks like a 'stimulus bill' might actually make it out of Congress and be on President Obama's desk by President's Day. Interestingly the current draft overall seems very much like in size & balance to what he sent to the Hill originally though some of the 'specifics' have been altered along the way. No matter what side of the political aisle you're on ... doing this in less than a month is pretty amazing.
5. The weather over the weekend should bring us continued rain showers ... and that's a good thing for us in Southern California.

Happy Valentine's Day! Great post as always and Goodwin's book is terrific!
If I'm still around for Spring, I'd like to have Alfie clipped down for summer. I did it last July after he went through some sort of seed-coated bush face-first and I couldn't comb out the seeds at all. As much as I love his curls, he is a naturally stinky dog and MUST go through bramble bushes instead of around them.
Hug that sweet-smelling doggie for me. There's nothing nicer than a clean, lovable pooch.
Happy Valentine's Day to you m'dear.
Good post - required reading, indeed. Happy Valentine's weekend to you, too!
We walked in the sunshine this afternoon. But it looks like it will be the elliptical tomorrow with rain forecasted for us SoCal people.
Enjoyed your fave five.
I did not vote for Obama, but my prayers are with him. I believe he is seeing how difficult it is to please everyone and to lead this country with so many complex problems. The congress is always an issue for any president--those are the folks we need to be paying more attention to when we cast our votes.
I hope you had a great Valentine's Day and a good FFF! Dana
You get winter in California? How does that manifest itself? Spring appears to be making a hesitant appearance here--yesterday, Nathan came in and excitedly told me that that little green shoots are coming up.
Obama will be in Denver signing the Stimulus Bill on Tuesday. It is amazing that he accomplished this so quickly. Let's hope it works.
Kearns book is on my list. No Ordinary Time is on of my favorites. She is so articulate and has a gift for understanding people involved in history.
