Ruby Tuesday and Today's Thoughts

Rain continues to fall ...
I took these photos this morning in the alley as I put out the trash ... getting soaked in the process. Looking up there was one bright spot in the dark grey skies and that's what made me get my camera.

Yesterday afternoon in a brief break in the rain I snapped these photos of puddles and reflections out front ... surprised to discover the two iris blossoms featured below.

The Saga of the new Sony Bravia LCD continues ...
Click for the beginning of the story if you missed it yesterday.

After waiting patiently from 8am-noon, I made a series of phone calls ... leaving multiple messages. Finally (around 1:45pm) I connected with a person and was informed that the technicians had encountered problems but were enroute & should arrive by
2 o'clock. I asked why no one had bothered to let me know but didn't get a satisfactory answer ... so I didn't feel confident, but I waited since I'd already paid for the service and wanted the work done.

It was about 3:30 when two fellows showed up at the front door. I'd been chatting on the phone with a friend who 'talked me down' from my frustration & anxiety so I greeted them amicably ... acknowledging that the weather might have made their day challenging. They muttered about problems as I led them to the back of the house and pointed out what needed to be done ...
I almost lost it totally
when they told me they couldn't move the cable connection but they'd be happy to take the TV out of the box, plug it in for me and attach the DVD player.

I took a moment to collect my thoughts (as I screamed internally with frustration about my wasted day) ... then asked (as calmly as I could) why I was paying $170 for something I could probably do myself with the help of a friend.

As they shrugged and moved to toward the box I stopped them ... established eye contact and said, "If I was your grandmother, would you think me foolish for agreeing to such a silly thing?" They both laughed as I walked to the phone and called INSTALLS Inc. LLD ... and was connected to someone in New York yet again.

As I explained the situation to her and expressed my frustration she expressed surprise and wanted to reschedule different technicians, but eventually agreed to credit my account with the $170 and I sent the two fellows on their way to their next job w/o allowing them to touch anything.

Next I called Time Warner Cable ... explained my plight ... and they've arranged to have a cable guy come to the house Friday afternoon to do the work for $19.95 ... so the TV & DVD remain in the box. The good news is that I'll save myself $150 by waiting a few more days. This morning I'm feeling relieved and figure what's done is done ... I'm simply grateful once again.

I've lost track of how many times I've participated
and it seems Mary, the teach, at
Work of the Poet may be having problems
like I experienced yesterday because I see no posts there.

All the same ... here are photos captured on my 'Marina walk'
last week & collaged with PSE6.

Very cool ruby shots, I am so jealous of the green grass.

The photo-collage really works well for these.

That makes two people who are jealous of the green grass.

Hope your TV troubles are solved very soon!
I'm envious of those iris shots - soon, very soon.
LOVE your collages as always and I know it's RT and the fire hydrants are nice, but that middle collage is very special.

Love the fire hydrants! Those are a fabulous RT shot. Hope you had fun on your walk and the rain slows down a bit.

And I love the quote! Consider it pilfered.

Two nice collages.
Even if it is Ruby Tuesday, I fell in love with the iris.

I think you're the first person I've ever come across who has a collection of red fire hydrant photos. THAT is so cool. ;-)

I heard you are having a lot of rain in southern Ca. Remember our son lives out there, and we talked with him last night.

Good for you for standing your ground with those technicans.

Hello, Virginia,
Like Oscar Wilde, I'm very thankful for the things I don't get that I don't want. I really appreciate his sense of humor.

So sorry to hear of all those frustrations. :(

I hope Part 3 of your Sony Bravia LCD saga is shorter and has a happy ending! I have to tell you, though, that I envy your two iris in bloom.

Here it rains cats and dogs since more than a week, we don't need extinguishers, lol !

Working with computer/television/cable/satellite/phone technicians can certainly be frustrating. Good for you in not giving in.

On another note, I did appreciate the award you gave to me a while ago. I have just not learned how to actually pick it up and put it in my sidebar. Moving things from other sites, or putting stuff in my sidebar are outside my ability right now. I am a long way from your technical expertise, but thank you for thinking of me.

Neat collage of red fire hydrants.

Add me to the list of wanting to see green grass, and springtime!

Happy belated Ruby Tuesday.
