200th Post - Almost Wordless OSI: Flowering

(I'm grateful to Mary who created this special award
for me to give to my friends in this
'virtual' world)

I've shared this award once previously ...(in Friday Haiku near the end of February if memory serves)... and I choose to offer it again today to all who pass this way in honor of my 200th post here at Small Reflections. I've certainly come a long way in a relatively brief time ... and I'm blessed by the friends I've come to know in the Blogosphere. Thank you all for your supportive encouragement and assistance along the way!

It started out almost wordlessly ... before I got wordy ;--)

* * * * * * * * * *

Week 9's prompt for One Single Impression is 'Flowering' ... and I decided to consider my personal growth and blossoming as a blogger during my 1st 6 months in this 'virtual world' since this is my 200th post.

My friend Sandy gave
me these flowers several months
back to celebrate

blogging connections.
Today for my OSI
at Small Reflections ...

I'm delighted to
share in celebration of
my 200th post!

* * * * * * *

My other WW/OSI Week 9 post
at Sacred Ruminations: 'Flowering'

Others participating this week:

Wordless Wednesday
One Single Impression - Week 9

* * * * * *

In the last week or so, I've 'revisited' some of my 'earliest' posts on this blog and at Sacred Ruminations ... and as I've done so, I've created additional 'links' in the About Me section of my sidebar in an attempt to make finding particular types of posts a bit simpler for myself and others. Most are self-explanatory ... but I'm taking a few minutes here to add a bit of clarity ... just because.

101 Things About Me began as a challenge from Anglophile Football Fanatic and grew into a 'succinct' history of my life to date rather than a 'random' list.

2007 Blog Review was my 1st 'official thank you' to my 'real & vitual friends' ... and explains how I began blogging and 'evolved' during my 1st three months in the Blogosphere.

Top 7 in '07 - Small is Beautiful Review was my response to an invitation from
Rachelle (Magpie Girl) who asked members of Small is Beautiful to search our Archives for "jewels" to share with others, highlighting favorite bits of writing for 2007. Her intention is to share link-love on Saturdays indefinitely so that we can all get better acquainted.

100th Post Milestone Missed? is a reflective piece on my other blog, Sacred Ruminations, in which I consider things I'm proud of myself for ... and things for which I forgive myself.

How I Became a Blogger contains the initial information I shared in the 'About Me' section of my sidebar after I decided to update that area a few months back to provide a more 'relevant' look at who I am and what I'm doing in the Blogosphere ... while 'sorting things out' for myself.

I do respond to all comments specifically on each of my blogs in as timely a manner as possible, and I encourage each of you to take time to check the box to receive 'follow up' comments in email so my responses get delivered to your email box because I know how 'futile' it is to try to revisit old posts and comment areas. Most of us have no time for such returns ... finding it challenging to visit on any kind of regular schedule the first time around. I do visit your blogs when you leave a 'link' with your comment ... in as timely a manner as possible.

I wish Blogger made email addresses available with comment ... but for the most part it doesn't. It took me a long time to learn to 'check details' before writing & sending an email response ... only to have Blogger 'bounce' it back to me. Occasionally however, an email address IS available ... and that reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask in this public forum because no one I've asked yet seems to know why some 'Blogger based' blog comments have something like 'Blogger @ NoReply dot com for an 'address' ...(as mine does even though my email address IS available on my Blogger profile page)... and others show the person's actual email address. Do YOU know ... and, if so, could you please explain how I can change that for myself?

As for my remaining sidebar links ... some (like T-13, Haiku Friday and Wordless Wednesday) take you to a 'Contents Archive Page' with sequential 'links' to specific posts by subject matter and/or titles. Others bring up posts containing a specific 'label' ... such as 'blogthings' or 'poetry' ... and some to specific posts ... as with Message in a Bottle and Photobucket Memes 1 and 2.

In closing, I'd like to express my gratitude for and delight in all the connections I've made during these first six months ... and I look forward to continued interaction in this 'virtual' world. I'm learning all the time and sincerely appreciate all your feedback and assistance always.

I wish you a wonderful Wednesday!

May you have many more milestones to share. I'm so glad I discovered you via WW, as you blog with a spirit of community that reflects why I got into blogging in the first place. Thanks for that!

I've posted my Wordless Wednesday contribution here, and hope you'll be able to drop by and say hi:

Have a wonderful rest-of-WW!

I know I've certainly become a fan of your blogging and your virtual friendship...I'm happy to say that your blog is terrific.

And I will state right now that I hope you continue to blog your way, and make lots of more 'new' friends.

[about the opossums....we have those here too...we we see 'em as road kill they look like one gigantic rat!!! creepy things, but I'm sure they do good in their own way somehow for this world.]

Happy Wednesday to you. And congrats on your milestone today.

This is a really nice post!
I think your blog looks great!
Good luck with more blogging.

I do not see a "little box" to check for follow ups. That must be for those who have blogger accounts.

I also have to say, thanks for leaving your comments opened to people like me who don't have blogger accounts! And mostly thanks for no word verification box, which makes it easy for people like me to leave you a comment!

I think the blogger@no-reply.com is for those who choose NOT to have their email public in their profile.

Thanks for stopping by Penny Lane and walking through the daffodil field.

Wow! You're 200th post! Yay! :) Blogging is addictive, huh? Pretty soon you'll probably double that and be on your 400th post!

Carmi – Thanks for visiting and leaving such a wonderful comment on my 200th Post at Small Reflections.

Sue – Thanks! It’s been fun thus far … and I’m looking forward to whatever comes next.

Hootin’ Anni – I appreciate your friendship as well and all the ‘tips’ on how to do things in this ‘virtual’ world with graphics and HTML text. I’m with you about opossums resembling gigantic rats … and I have no idea what ‘good’ they might do in whatever way. It’s hard to imagine how much I’ve learned and accomplished in just 6 months, but it’s been pretty fun.

SandyCarlson and Zoya, - I appreciate your congratulatory wishes ;--)

Jean – What lovely feedback and good wishes. You’re the 2nd person to mention inability to see a little box to check for follow up comments and it’s frustrating to think it might not be available to non-Blogger accounts. As for the blogger @ no reply address, I’ve got MY email posted, but my comments don’t show my email address to those with Blogger accounts … though some of my bloggy friends with Blogger accounts DO have their email address show up. ‘Tis a puzzlement to me that I’ve been trying to solve. As for my visit to Penny Lane … your daffodils (and blog) are delightful!

Andrea – Yez … it’s definitely addictive. It wasn’t so long ago that I was creating my list of 101 Things on my 101st post, so you’re no doubt correct that I’ll be at 400 before long at this rate ;--)

Once I’d written 'the wordy part' of my post I wasn’t sure I should share it as ‘Wordless Wednesday’ …(since it’s anything but), however I wanted to acknowledge all my ‘virtual’ friends and acquaintances and figured only those who had time (and/or cared) would do more than look at the image ;--)

I hope you’re all having a wonderful Wednesday.
Hugs and blessings,

I do see the little box. :) Congrats!

I wonder if the email thing has to do with a setting in your admin area?? Dunno, can you see mine? It's supposed to be available. :)

Beautiful ♥ post and award
I found it really informative what you wrote I was thinking of including a similar thing on mine - now blogger has stopped email notifications for a lot of commenters too

thanks for visiting me

Mike – I’m happy you find my words inspiring. I do try my best to be interesting and informative. Old habits die hard ;--)

Lisa Marie – I’m happy someone does. I’m thinking non-Blogger accounts have the same problem those of us on Blogger have with other platforms … and need to use something like ‘Track co.mments’ … so I’ll try to remember to post about that and change my ‘Welcome Message’ in the comment area to address this issue. I’ve been through the ‘settings’ area of my blogs too many times to count. My email address IS available … it just doesn’t come through when I leave a comment. Yes … I just checked the email notification for this comment and your email IS available … so you’re an example of what has ME puzzled about the way this all works.

PJ – Thanks … and you’re welcome. It’s always my pleasure to visit your blog.

Sandy – I had fun ‘reminiscing’ on the last couple of posts … and I’m hoping to continue to ‘refocus’ myself in the days, week, and months ahead.

KC – You’re most welcome. I love to share the bounty with others!

Joyce – Thanks and the feeling is mutual. I had no clue how much fun this ‘blogging’ thing could be (nor how many fascinating folks I’d meet) when I started … and I’m delighted that I listened to my friends, finally!

Nicole – I know many others who feel as you do about Blogger. I’ve also watched with interest how people complain about Wordpress (especially recently) and Typepad … so I’m thinking each platform has ‘issues’ to be reckoned with. For now … ‘free’ is good for me, and hopefully Blogger will work the quirks out in time.

baby-amore – What a lovely compliment. Thanks … and now I want to know how you put the little heart in your comment like you did. Please share ;--)

I’m always delighted to find comments in the morning when I log on. I appreciate each of you taking time to share your thoughts about this post and my blog. I have no idea what I’m going to share for T-13 today nor what to did for Pensieve’s ’40 word or less’ challenge at Sacred Ruminations … but I’m savoring the moment right now and (hopefully) will figure it out soon. Hope you’re all having a wonderful week.

Congratulations on your 200th post, Virginia, and on the recent award you received.

Did I tell you we're getting ready for another trip? Leaving Sunday. Trying to get things ready.

Ivanhoe – Thanks. It’s hard to imagine how much I’ve accomplished in my first 6 months of blogging but it’s all been fun!

Betty – I appreciate the kind words. I think you did mention you’re getting ready for another trip and I hope the two of you have as much fun as you did on the last one. If I traveled as much as you I’d never be able to keep up with two blogs!

Hope you’re both having a delightful day!

I don't know why I never have liked blogger.
*shrug*
I loved WP and still do when I occasionally pop in my old blog.
And yes, every platform has its pros and cons.
I love my choice, but it does have limits too :)
So did WP ;)

Congratulations! I am so new at blogging, I can't even fathom getting to 200!

Thanks so much for sharing your all! Your comments on my blog are truly appreciated. Enjoy!

Congratulations on your 200th post! May the next 200 be as wonderful as the first 200!

storyteller said...

Nicole – Thanks for the additional response. I suppose we each ‘make do’ with what we have … and when it’s time, move on to something new.

MyBellavia – You may surprise yourself. I don’t know how new is ‘new’ … but I’ve only been blogging since late last October (about 6 months) and I’ve got 200+ posts here and another 150+ on my other blog, Sacred Ruminations. It amazes ME how quickly I’ve collected a ‘body of work’ in the Blogosphere. When I revisit those earlier posts and remember how ‘lost’ I felt (and how little I knew) I’m flabbergasted at how quickly I’ve acquired knowledge and skills.

Karen – You’re always so kind and supportive in your comments, and I appreciate the encouragement more than you know … seriously!

Thanks everyone! I hope you each have a fantastic Friday and wonderful weekend.

I just checked and your email DOES come through on the comments you've left for me (in the emails that notify me that I have a comment). What's led you to believe that it doesn't? 'Cause it's there! :)

storyteller said...

Melissa – I’m delighted to know YOU see my email with notifications … and yet am puzzled all the more because I’ve been told by others (with Blogger accounts) that my email address doesn’t come through with comments. In addition, when I received ‘follow up’ comments I leave on other’s blogs my email doesn’t show up there either. I’m intrigued however … so perhaps I’ll conduct a ‘survey’ to see who DOES get my email and who doesn’t (or not). Thanks for the ‘heads up’ on this issue!

Maybe they're misunderstanding where to look for your email. Make sure they specifically understand that it's in the email they receive (assuming they receive these emails) when someone leaves a comment on their blog. Have them find one from you, and click "reply" and see if the "to" address is yours.

storyteller said...

Melissa – Thanks … I’ll do that and I appreciate knowing this is a 'non-problem' after all. ;--)

WOW - 200 posts in six months! I have visited your blog several times and normally have a difficult time getting in. I am so glad I made it in this evening. I loved your pictures. I do hope you will join us at Slice of Life. I have poked around some here and I know you will have some interesting and helpful Slices to contribute.

storyteller said...

Cricket’s Hearth – I’m sorry you’re having difficult accessing my blog and am delighted to discover your lovely comment this morning … so thanks for trying until you succeeded. I’ve got ‘Slice of Life’ on the back-burner … and do plan to contribute.

My life’s been ‘busier than usual’ lately … I’ve had some computer issues of my own to deal with, and the initial prompts didn’t ‘click’ with any ‘stories’ to share, but I’m sure something will ignite a spark eventually. As for 200 posts in 6 months … I’m surprised by that too (especially since I have another 160+ on my other blog currently). It seems like the time was right for me to jump into blogging in a big way, and I’m glad I did.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Mother’s Day!
