Heads or Tails #13 - Yippee!!!

Hosted by Skittles at Head or Tails

The theme/prompt this week is ...
TAILS - Share a Summertime memory

I intended to write about my 18 day trip last summer to Taos, New Mexico for HoTs this week. However, as some of you know ... I've been taking classes on Photoshop Elements 6 for about 7 weeks. Computer memory issues had been plaguing me for some time ... and working with Photoshop requires LOTS of memory ... so I ordered a new laptop June 12th ... shared the saga of delays as they unfolded during the time between then and now.

When my new Dell Inspiron 1720 finally arrived Monday morning around 11:05, naturally I dropped everything to 'play' with it.
As a result ... the day totally got away from me and (at the moment) I'm more focused on the memories I'm creating THIS summer than the ones I intended to write about. So ... I'm adding this link to memories of that Taos trip I posted previously and cutting my Taos memories short here. I promise to write about them another time!

The collage at the top is one I created last Thursday in my PSE6 class with a few photos from last summer using more techniques & tools I've learned about this summer. Notice I've used ONE photo (with the opacity changed to about 50%) for the background and I've experimented by putting different kinds of frames & effects around each of the other photos. This isn't actually finished, but it's fun to share 'as is' to illustrate some of what I've learned recently (since I've not done so for a while now). I plan to remove the 'electrical wires' from the photo at the top right and add a few more details like the bird in flight eventually.

Here's a photo of the screen of my new laptop with 2 of my blogs open side by side. I'm feeling a bit 'scattered' this evening because
it's already after 9pm, and I'd like to publish this and add the link at Heads or Tails before I turn off the computer & head upstairs. If you're interested, I did post a quickie note at Sacred Ruminations earlier with photos of my old and new laptops.
I'm used to XP PRO, so Vista will take a bit of 'getting used to' ... but I've been able to figure out many things already. The new Dell MUCH faster that the old one and has 4 Gigs of RAM ... so I should be able to open Google Reader no matter how many messages are unread and waiting for me. Hopefully I'll get myself 'caught up' with blog visits quickly and stay more current than I've been able to do lately.
Click for others participating in HoTs this week.
Next week's theme/prompt is:
HEADS - Anything starting with the letter O

Note to Fun Monday participants: Thanks to everyone who dropped by mine on Monday. I'll be doing by best to catch up over the next few days as time permits.

I took a course on Photoshop Elements, which isn't even the full version of 7, and it was intense. I can only imagine!

Your post and collage are great. My HoT is posted, too.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, have fun with your new computer!!! And what memories you can share now ---at top speed too.

Mine is shared. Stop by if you can. But warning, it's a bit different than what you'd probably expect for a summer memory.

Picturing of Life – Thanks! I recommend taking a class if you can because it’s so much easier learning from someone who knows PSE than from a book or the online help. I did, however, just purchase THE MISSIN MANUAL by Barbara Brundage and it’s an excellent reference.

Forgetfulone – It helps that this PSE class meets twice weekly for three and a half hours. This will be my 8th week … so I’ve had time to assimilate and practice the lessons along the way. Now that I have my new laptop, things should go more smoothly because it has so much more RAM and runs at a faster speed than my old one.

Shadow – I’m happy you enjoyed the quote and my collage. I try to include something relevant with each posting.

Hootin’ Anni – YESSSSSSS … it’s been so much fun already that I almost hate to leave it home to attend my PSE6 class, but I know it’ll be here when I return. It’s noticeably faster … and the screen is brighter so it’s easier to read.

Tina – That giraffe stands in someone’s front yard in Taos. I happened upon it as I took a walk one afternoon and was fascinated.

To all- How fun to find your comments this morning! I’ll visit each of you later this afternoon, but right now … I need to get myself ready for class and take Molly for a walk. Have a wonderful day!
Hugs and blessings,

Another fantastic little mosaic! I was in Taos, New Mexico for business once and I had a friend/co-worker with me so we stayed an extra day. It was a lovely place.

So glad your computer finally arrived!

Skittles – Thanks! In each class we learn more and it’s fun to share.

Ivanhoe – Me too … I’ve been playing almost non-stop since it arrived … delighted with what I’ve discovered thus far, but there’s much work left to get things set up the way I want them. The best thing so far is the SPEED of things and the fact that it doesn’t ‘freeze up on me’ mid-task ;--)

Preethi – I’m glad you enjoyed both.

Tammy - I’m so excited and delighted! Congrats on your new blog too!

Shannon – I think that’s the same program Hootin’ Anni uses … and I suppose I might need to explore it at some point, but for now I’ve got more than enough to keep ME busy. LOL

Betty – Ya know, it’s not a question of being ‘smart’ … it’s a function of the PSE6 classes I’ve been attending for the past 8 weeks. This new computer is going to make so many things simpler.

Milet – It was my pleasure … and I’m glad you liked it.

Maggie – YES!!!!! Finally is right! I appreciate you (and others) anticipating and celebrating right along with me.

Peppylady – I’m delighted you enjoyed it and thrilled at all I’ve learned in my PSE6 classes.

Sandy – It’s a pleasure to share the ups and downs and ups of the ‘anticipation’ and I’m in 7th heaven with my new laptop. It’s been such fun sharing what I’ve learned in PSE6 up until now, but from now on it should be even better (once I figure things out and get things set up the way I want them). This new machine is so FAST it’s amazing.

Vixen – Thanks and me too ;--)
Taos is such a lovely little town in the midst of beautiful countryside. I’m sure I’ll return to spend more time there at some point, and I’m glad you had the opportunity to experience it too.

Annie – As I’ve indicated to others, the new machine is amazing. I loved happening upon that giraffe sculpture whilst wandering Taos one afternoon and enjoy the photo so much it’s a permanent feature in my sidebar here at Small Reflections.

To all – It’s always fun to find comments in the morning when I log on, so thanks to everyone for dropping by. I appreciate your kind words and look forward to being able to access everyone’s blogs more easily now that I’m not hampered by old technology that ‘freezes up’ on me. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Tina – Guess I missed this comment when I found your others over the weekend, but am happy to discover it this morning. Thanks for sharing my joy so enthusiastically. I feel like I’ll be playing ‘catch-up’ for a while, but it’s so much more fun to do so with this new machine ;--)
