TAILS - Share a special memory

This week's topic is
10 Things I Love About My Life

1. I'm happily retired with lots of 'discretionary' time to spend on things I enjoy ... reading, writing, gardening, blogging, visiting with friends, walking on the beach, playing with Molly, 'live' theater, watching 'tennis' tournaments ... and generally living the good life ;--)

2. Retirement also provides me time for things I don't necessarily 'enjoy' but that I'd like to accomplish ... like clearing out clutter accumulated over the years. Slow and steady wins the race ... and hopefully that will prove true for me.

3. I'm healthy ...(knocking on wood here)... and do what I can to stay that way by eating right and exercising regularly.

4. Molly and Ms. Kitty provide constant companionship and affection.

5. I enjoy 'blogging' as a way to 'express myself' and connect with others from the comfort of my home ... whenever I wish.

6. Participating in a variety of weekly 'activities' ...(like One Single Impression, Fun Mondays, Camera Critters, Unconscious Mutterings, Heads or Tails, Wordless Wednesdays, Thursday Thirteen, Haiku Friday, and Sacred Life Sunday)... in the Blogosphere provides a wonderful way to meet & get better acquainted with other bloggers with whom I may share interests. This, in turn, increases the 'comments' I receive on my posts ... making this 'virtual' experience all the more satisfying.

7. Learning how to do new things keeps my mind active and me alert. I've always enjoyed challenges, and blogging is a marvelous way to S T R E T C H myself and master new skills.

8. I love living a block and a half from the Pacific Ocean ... walking along the beach daily and letting Molly run free & play with fur-friends at Dog Beach ... falling asleep and waking to the sounds of surf ... enjoying gentle onshore breezes keeping the temperatures mild ... and being close enough to stores to 'walk' rather than drive everywhere constantly ...(especially with rising gas prices).

9. Electronic 'gadgets' like my computer, PDA, digital camera, cellphone and the like ... all of which make life simpler in some ways ...(though more complex in others).

10. I love finding COMMENTS after my posts ... so take a minute to say 'hello' and leave a link so I can visit YOU too ;--)

Good morning, Storyteller! That's a great set of direction photos you have collected. I especially like the wooden door with the cross beams.

Hootin Anni said...

LOve....LOVE the direction with the squiggly arrow and the "Just kidding" below it. Now that's MY idea of fun...our highways would be a lot of fun driving if there were more like that. [Just kidding! Some idiot would take it for real I'm sure]

Great posting for F M!!!!

Mike – Thanks! I just got up about 45 minutes ago … so it’s too early to predict what kind of day it’ll be … but most of mine are terrific and I don’t expect anything less for this Tuesday.

Joy – I’m happy to know you do!!!!! I had great fun creating it yesterday instead of waiting for this morning (as I usually do) … and it’s nice to find 4 comments already as I sit down at my laptop with my 1st cup of coffee after feeding the fur-friends and putting out the trash.

Andree – Me too! At first it didn’t seem to ‘fit’ with the concept … but in playing with possibilities I found a way to include it in the sequence and was pleased with the overall result.

Hootin’ Anni – Ah yez … that was the very first sign I selected … and it ‘set the tone’ for the ‘direction’ of today’s HoT even though I didn’t put it at the top. I liked the element of surprise ;--)

Happy EARTH DAY to all!!! (perhaps I should add this to my post?)

My ‘experiment’ of creating and publishing early (as in just before I turned off the computer) yielded a few comments already, but the big bonus is the freedom I’ll have this morning to do some ‘blog visits’ in the time I would have been generating the post. Living on the West Coast means many of you are at …(or on your way to)… work by the time I arise and become productive in this ‘virtual’ world. I hope you all enjoy your Tuesday as much as I intend to.

Love your #1 out of 10! Retirement is CERTAINLY an earned pleasure!!! And while I've never seen the Pacific - I know how much I LOVE my Atlantic - so I can relate!!! :)

By the way - I don't play Heads or Tails -- but that "just kidding" sign is PERFECT! I loved that!

Barb said...

What a lot of good directions in this post. I especially like the one about following your heart. :)

storyteller said...

Ivanhoe – Living where I do is certainly a blessing and I have LOTS of friends and family members asking the same question all the time ;--)

Shannon – I never gave a thought to ‘retirement’ until it became a possibility for me … and I’ve never regretted my decision to do so. Every day’s a blessing!

Jenn – Ya know what they say about ‘great minds’ … right?

Melli – I’m happy you decided to drop by and leave a link back to your blog. I enjoyed my visit there and will definitely visit again as time permits.

Skittles – Thanks for your visit, comment, and the HoT idea itself!

I appreciate each of you sharing your thoughts this morning. I’ve enjoyed playing these past three weeks and look forward to future prompts. It’s delightful to see what everyone does with the idea.

Happy Earth Day to you. Loved your selection of signs! I envy you living so close to the coast. I love the ocean. Isn't retirement awesome. My problem I procrastinate a lot any more, because I keep saying, I'll do that tomorrow.

Storyteller,

It's so great to be back. I feel like i've been looking at signs like these for the past few days :)

Tumblewords – Thanks so much. I sure had fun ‘playing’ with this prompt!

Bundle-of-contradictions
(smile) … I enjoyed creating it and visiting others. Seems like lots of folks played today so it’ll take me a while to get around to everyone.

Linda – I’m so grateful to live where I do and yez … retirement IS amazing! Who knew? Certainly not me. I don’t always get to everything on my list, and I cut myself ‘slack’ often as well ;--)

Tina – Originally I intended to ‘choose’ from what I found, but after I’d done the research things ‘fell together’ in fun ways and I let myself get carried away.

Greatfullivin – I’ve only recently picked up a few new memes to play with. I don’t know how long I’ll continue to do all of them regularly, but it’s fun to meet new folks in the ‘virtual’ world and for now this works for me.

Akelamalu – I love living where I do … and am delighted with all aspects of coastal life (except for noisy parties and trash left in my yard by ‘thoughtless’ inlanders when the weather warms up).

Sandy – Welcome home. Seems like you managed to enjoy your trip and that traveling with Ella wasn’t a problem.

How nice to find all your comments as I return from my morning walk with Molly. I hope you’re all having a delightful day and a wonderful week!

Great ToT list! I love having comments too! I guess that's what makes blogging so addictive, huh?

Have a great day!

I enjoyed the pictures you shared today. Great ones for HoT theme for today.

Also, I liked learning more about you in the 10 things you love about your life. I never get bored with my life since retirement, and it sounds like you don't either. Isn't that great. So many people complain about being bored after retirement, but not the two of us.

I would like to answer your questions you have about my jobs but will look for your email on your blog so I can answer via email. If I don't find an email address then I will answer it here.

Me again as I forgot a couple of things I wanted to tell you.

Of course, I hope you will feel free to pass the "rose in the garden of my life" award on to others. Somehow I always forget to add that in my posts.

And I feel absolutely honored that you want to "snag" the Fun Monday thingie to use on your Fun Monday posts as I actually created this one. I had been wanting a graphic for Fun Monday but didn't know how to make one. Finally learning a little something, lol. I hope to see it proudly displayed on your blog next week.

You approach this so very creatively, storyteller--I love it! And it truly sounds like a good life--enjoy!

Peppylady – Yez … and so many of them are confusing and/or conflicting ;--)

SassyMamaBear – Thanks. I enjoyed doing the ‘research’ and putting this HoT together … and am glad you enjoyed it too.

Heather – Methinks you may be right! Thanks for visiting Small Reflections today ;--)

Betty – I always love your conversational comments and am happy we ‘met’ though Bloggers Over 50! Retirement IS more wonderful that I suspected it could be. I received the email and appreciate you responding to my question there. Thanks for permission to pass the ‘rose’ along and to use your Fun Monday graphic. I need to learn how to create such things myself.

MistyDawn – I’m delighted you enjoyed it and hope you’re feeling better.

Mama Zen – I had such fun ‘discovering’ these cool signs at Photobucket, and now that I know how to use the HTML codes provided there … you can ‘click’ on the pictures to see who created it ;--)

Vic – You’re welcome. I enjoy visiting other’s blogs to see what they’re doing. Thanks for returning the visit to mine.

Roger – So … is this one YOU created my friend? I found it at Photobucket and fell ‘in love’ with it at first sight ;--)

Sue – Heheh! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I did get a bit carried away, but loved it all.

Karen – I almost missed your comment because you must have visited while I was responding. I’m glad I caught it as I was ‘previewing’ my responses. Hope you and Nathan are fully recovered and that you’re having a wonderful Wednesday!

Thanks to all of you for visiting my HoT (and ToT) this week. I think I’ve been to each of your blogs already, but will double check as time permits. Hope you’re having a wonderful Wednesday!
