Heads or Tails #1 - Expressing Myself

The prompt: Express
(This is my very 1st time participating
in Heads or Tails)
Click for other participants.

My 1st thought was
of the

Harry Potter books
and the Hogwart's Express

Photobucket

and then I thought of food ...

and finally (while searching Photobucket)
I came upon this ...

and decided to do that poetically here
just because ...

Readers know I love to write
in Haiku ... although they might
not know other kinds of rhymes
captivate my mind sometimes ...

so poetically I share
here (in case you're unaware)
April is a month for the
publishing of POETRY ;--)

If this is your 1st time to
visit Small Reflections, do
take a look around ... and then
leave a comment so that when

time permits I can find you
and your blog ... for making new
blogging friends does motivate
me to thus participate!

On another topic ...
from spending so much time around Molly,
this is what I thought I'd be ...

Labrador Retriever
The Caretaker
Your family is what makes you tick, and you never "flea" from an opportunity to hang out with the whole gang. A family picnic complete with hot dogs, deviled eggs and a refreshing swim in the lake is hard for you to stray from. Your sparky temperament and dogged intelligence mean you are not only a blast to hang out with, but great to work with as well. Your close pals appreciate your patience and forgiveness, knowing you'd rather let sleeping dogs lie than dwell on the mishaps of the past. Your dashing good looks may one day lead to a modeling career, if only you can tame the unfortunate clumsiness that sometimes causes you to go flailing from the catwalk. Learn more »

FAMOUS LABRADOR RETRIEVERS: Bill Cosby, Jackie Onassis, Dr. Phil, David Beckham

LIKELY PROFESSIONS: Doctor, Sales Executive, Teacher

but this is the result I got when I took the quiz!
Who knew?

German Shepherd
The Perfectionist
Doggedly dedicated to getting the job done, you don't let silly little distractions get in the way of putting in a full day's work. And after you come home, chowing down on a little grub and taking a little catnap is all it takes to get you up and at 'em for round two, whatever that may entail. Your dogma emphasizes the importance of hard work, and you swim laps around your dog-paddling, time-wasting co-workers. Your cleverness leads to you often being entrusted with some pretty important tasks, which you are always more than happy to sink your canines into. You really dig being outdoors and love a bit of exercise, but you draw the line at the ridiculous stuff, choosing a game of beach volleyball over Pilates in the park any day." Learn more »
FAMOUS GERMAN SHEPHERDS: Teddy Roosevelt, Queen Elizabeth, Humphrey Bogart, Oprah

LIKELY PROFESSIONS: Professional Athlete, Policeman, Wilderness Guide, Meteorologist
Strange ... methinks these descriptors might have suited me once upon a time ... but certainly not these days. I'm much more 'lab' like ;--)

I enjoyed your Heads or Tails post. That was very good choices for today's theme. I'm afraid I wasn't very creative in my search for some way to use "express". Maybe I should have just said I don't know how to "express" myself, lol.

Hope you are having a good week so far.

Welcome to Heads or Tales. I really like your blog.
I'm a Border Collie, thought for sure I'd be a Lab.

I got Labrador. :)

I loved the Harry Potter books and have read the series twice. I think the movies followed along pretty well, which you don't often find.

Welcome to Heads Or Tails!!! I'll get you put on the blogroll. :)

Howdy!!! I just read your comment. This is a great 'Express'!! [which makes me think of Polar Express the holiday movie now]. Anyway...I just left you a comment on your 2nd blog; to answer your question.

Happy day to you Dear one!!!!

...well, I was CLOSE to what you thought you'd be...I got GOLDEN Retriever.

Betty – Thanks for your kind words about my 1st attempt at Heads or Tails. I’ve seen these posts periodically on blogs I visit, but today was the first time I noticed the link to Skittles … so thanks ;--)

Sandy M – I appreciate the ‘welcome’ and the visit. Thanks for sharing your Dogster results and leaving a comment today. This ‘meme’ seems like lots of fun and I enjoyed visiting your blog earlier today.

Skittles – Yup … your’s is black right? Mine's a ‘yellow’ but she’s almost completely white in color except for the tips of her ears and tail. Aren’t they wonderful friends? I loved the Harry Potter series too … read the books multiple times while waiting for the next one to be published. I’ve not seen all of the movies, but someone recently gave me the set on DVR … so maybe I’ll get around to it sometime. I appreciate you adding me to the Blogroll and I look forward to participating in the future now that I know where to look.

Hootin’ Anni – Ah yez … POLAR EXPRESS is one of my all time favorite holiday books!!! I’ve not seen the movie version but I’ve seen ‘clips’ that look intriguing and I love the movies Tom Hanks makes. Thanks for the ‘heads up’ about answering on my other blog. I’ll go check now.

Thanks to all of you for visiting and making me feel ‘welcome’ on my first Heads or Tails post. I’ve checked out a number of participating blogs already and look forward to visiting the rest as time permits … if not today, then as the week continues.
Hugs and blessings,

Welcome to Heads or Tail and what great post.
I had trouble with this one.

Storyteller I just took the quiz and it turns out that I'm a golden retriever.

Many people mentioned Harry Potter. I must admit I haven't read any of the books, but many of my friends say I should, so I'm going to have to get my hands on copies of them.

Love your poetry. I write poetry too.

Considering we have three Border Collies, I wondered how this quiz would turn out. I'm a bulldog! So, I made my husband take the quiz - he's a bulldog too. We always get the same results on these quizzes - we're so boring hehehe

By the way, I'm going to be starting a new Sunday meme. It's all about posting photos of animals.

Hootin’ Anni – Hmmm you must have been doing the quiz while I was leaving responses here. I almost missed your second comment. A 'Golden' is very much like a 'Lab' in temperament, but they've got longer, curlier hair. My Molly sheds enough … I hate to have to deal with longer hair all over my house each day :--)

SecretAgentMama – Thanks … I appreciate your visit and positive feedback since I don’t usually respond well to ‘prompts’ as a general rule. I am having fun visiting others to see what they’ve done with the topic.

Peppylady – I sometimes have trouble with ‘prompts’ … in fact yesterday’s Fun Monday prompt left me totally without inspiration, but I enjoyed seeing what everyone else did with it. Thanks so much for visiting today and leaving your link so I could visit your blog. The Pony Express was an excellent ‘association’ … one I didn’t think of but wish I had ;--)

Mike – Thanks for sharing your ‘Dogster’ quiz results. Golden’s are wonderful pooches.

Misty Dawn – I appreciate your visit and comments today … enjoyed my visit to your blog … and will look forward to returning. The Harry Potter books are fun reads and worth the time for young and old alike. How surprising that both you and your husband turned out to be Bulldogs … but somehow that result doesn’t seem ‘boring’ in the least to me. I’ll check out your new Sunday meme because I love animals.

I’ve enjoyed finding (and responding) all your comments … and if I’ve not been to your blog yet today, I’ll be there as soon as time permits.
Hugs and blessings,

Great fun... I love Harry Potter so you got my attention right away. I enjoyed your poem and your sense of humor. And now I have to go see what kind of dog I am. Last time I took one of those kinds of things I was a Burmese Mountain Dog or something like that. Happy Heads or Tails Tuesday.

I really like that poem of yours! I've been trying my hand at it too lately and it's a reach for me, but very creative.

What fun! I've never seen this Head or Tails event. Oh...how I miss Panda Express from California. We don't have that here in MA :(

I really enjoyed your poem. Very well done. Your poems always seem so effortless!

Awesome blend of ideas for Heads or Tails. That was really fun!

I'm a lab. But I'm so not a dog person, I kind of expected it to say that I was a cat. :)

Now I am craving Panda Express, lol. I love, love, love your poetry. I am participating in NaPoWriMo for April's poetry month. Its a blast.

Hi, Storyteller! That was fun. :)
I'm a Border Collie, which is no surprise at all. I am definitely a competitive over-achiever, but I try to exercise a lot of self-control so as not to be obnoxious!
Have a lovely evening. :)

I really enjoyed your poem. Well done!! This is my second time doing HoT. Fun isn't it, haha.

Have a great week.

Eve – Well … now I know why you’re my kind of person! LOL

Raven – I appreciate you checking out my first HoT post and your supportive feedback. I’m wondering if you posted your Dogster quiz results and will be by to ‘check’ later.

Roger – Thanks so much ;--)

Baba – What a lovely comment! I loved the ‘baby photos’ you shared for HoT yesterday.

Andree – Thanks! Actually, poetry comes ‘naturally’ to me … in fact when I first picked up a pencil to journal a few decades ago … everything came out in very rigid rhythm and rhyme patterns. It took effort and time to let go of ‘form’ and express my thoughts freely.

Sandy – I’m surprised you’ve not encountered HoT before because I’ve seen posts with the logo for months now (much like I did with Haiku Friday before I discovered ‘A Mommy Story’ and later ‘Playgroups’ so I could join the fun. Yesterday was the first time I discovered the ‘source’ and decided to try my hand however. You’d be a ‘natural’ for sure!

Maggie – Thanks so much for your visit and kind comment.

Melissa – Heheh … that would have been funny indeed! So … are you going to share your results … surprising though they might be? Inquiring minds want to know ;--)

Vien – I love Panda Express but haven’t eaten there for quite some time myself. Maybe I’ll seek one out today while running errands later.

Joyce – Border Collies are cool … and this result certainly does seem like a good ‘fit’ for you. I appreciate the ‘link-love’ when you shared them on your blog.

Alice – Yes … it was fun to experimentally ‘play’ with this week’s prompt and methinks I’ll play again for sure. I’ve enjoyed meeting new bloggers and seeing what they’ve published too.

MamaZen - Somehow that doesn't surprise me at all ... and even helps 'explain' why I'm drawn to you and your blog repeatedly. LOL

How fun to find all these comments this morning! Thanks so much for your visit and encouraging words. If I’ve not been to your blog yet, I’ll get there later on … after I finish responding here and figure out what to post for Wednesday.

Loved how you EXPRESSed yourself! I took the dog quiz...A Golden retriever, thats what I am.....
"You are a Golden Retriever!
Laid-back, sociable and well-groomed, you've got your own hip little pack of groupies who just love to be around you. You have a brain inside that adorable little head of yours, though you use it mostly to organize your hectic social calendar. You never poop out at parties, and since you're popular with ladies and men, as well as children and adults, you dish out your wit, charm and luck to whomever is close enough to bask in it. The top dog likes you and wants to be your best friend, despite the fact that he doesn't really know what the heck you do. No one does, in fact, but everyone loves you all the same. A true foodie, youve got your keen ears fine-tuned to make sure you don't miss out on the opening of a trendy new place to nosh. But your youthful days of being able to wolf down food 24-7 are wagging behind you, meaning you've got to watch what you eat so you dont pull a Brando and outgrow your coats."
Thanks for sharing this it was fun! HUGS!

Melissa (at Part of Everything) – Goldens are wonderful dogs … (just like labs)… but they make a bigger mess when they shed ;--)

Greatfullivin – Thanks so much! (see comment to Melissa above) LOL … I loved reading the ‘description’ so thanks for taking the time to include the details. Seems to ‘fit’ my perception of you in many respects actually ;--)

Karen – How cool! Of course you would!!! LOL

Grandy – Perhaps not … so … are you gonna share YOUR results??? Inquiring minds and all that.

Tumblewords – How nice of you to say so! I enjoyed creating it and visiting other HoTs … though I’ve not gotten to everybody just yet. I’m hoping to catch up over the weekend when things slow down a bit.

Thanks so much to each of you for visiting and leaving a comment. Hope you’re having a wonderful week!
