I remember being surprised at the prejudice portrayed in the movie South Pacific, when I first saw it as a teen. I can understand people from different cultures having difficulty understanding one another, but it mystifies me that one really truly can consider him or herself better than others because of skin color. I feel like saying to them, "Oh, how skillful and wise you are, to have attained unto [insert skin color here]."
Sorry to get serious on you. I do enjoy the song you included. :)
Very good pick and just love the quote!
Good choice for today's theme. I haven't seen this movie in AGES!!!!
That birthday bear is RED! And hi heart is red...and big!
Music has been a big part of today's theme which is rather interesting. I do love this musical, but also see Joyce's point too. Mine is up at The Cafe.
I've never seen that movie before. That was really good. I liked it. :o)
Love the storytelling with graceful hand gestures! I haven't seen South Pacific in ages! I may need to dust off the video!
What a great way to think about "talk". Have a great Tuesday.
The u-tube won't show for me but I love the little bear!
You have some fun ruby to share. Happy birthday to whoever scored those!
Wonderful Ruby Reds for your first entry!
South Pacific - I'm feeling a little old right now - especially when Tammy in the comments said she had never seen it!
Blessings to you!
I love that bag! Perfect rubies though all!
Great choice for an inaugural R/T... seems to be a lot of first timers this week -- me included!
- Mojo
I just love your pic for Ruby Tuesday.
What a great Ruby birthday bear!
Thank you for sharing the song..Nice tune and the red bear and heart...
I love the bear!!! I want one!!
Hi - I saw Ruby Tuesday on your site so thanks to you, love Judyx
Joyce – I know what you mean. I felt much the same way when I first saw South Pacific.
Kitten – Thanks … I enjoyed both myself and appreciate your TWO visits and comments today ;--)
Skittles – Me either! This was the first thing that came to mind when I read the prompt. I’m always surprised at the variety of associations people make to the HoTs themes each week.
Ralph – Yup … it was a gift from some ‘Red Hat’ friends on my birthday a few years back … and it STILL makes me smile.
SassyMamaBear – I was surprised at the variety of music related to ‘talk’ that folks shared!
Tammy – Oh my … you’re making me feel OLD all of a sudden. It was originally a ‘stage production’ … made into a film. The ‘musical’ IS worth seeing if you ever get the chance. All of the music is wonderful and it’s a ‘period piece’ about ‘history’ too.
WillThink4Wine – You have the video? How ‘kewl’ is that! I’d have to find a copy and RENT it ;--)
Karen – Thanks … I appreciate the visit and look forward to checking out your blog as time permits.
Akelamalu – I’m sorry you didn’t get to see the video and glad you enjoyed my little red bear.
EllenB – It was ME who ‘scored’ these ‘kewl RUBY RED gifts … a few years about.
Carletta – Thanks so much. I’ve been enjoying others participating and gathering up ‘ruby red’ images in a folder so I could join in too. I’m with you about feeling OLD at Tammy’s comment too … but I’m choosing to let that go … just because.
Lisa’s Chaos – That’s one of my favorite Kipling bags. I have it in several colors. The nifty thing about it is that it converts to a ‘backpack’ quickly when my shoulder gets tired.
Mojo – Thanks. It’s amazing to me how quickly this Ruby Tuesday meme caught on and how HUGE it’s become. I’m glad to be a part of it.
Gayle – Yup … it’s pretty special. I have a PURPLE birthday bear too ;--)
Rambling Woods – You’re most welcome … thanks for dropping by.
Judy’s Teapot – Heheh … I hope one comes into your life in the same way this come came into mine.
To all – I apologize for being S L O W to respond here but I’ve tried to visit your sites and leave comments there. If I’ve missed you, hopefully I’ll catch up soon. I’m off to my PSE6 class this morning so I won’t be visiting blogs until later this afternoon. I hope you all have a delightful day!
Hugs and blessings,
Storyteller,
Great Ruby Tuesday! Happy Talk is one of my favorite songs from South Pacific, too. I remember being impressed with "You've Got to Be Taught". Then I was shocked to find out that some people didn't realize that was meant to be sarcasm. It made a big impact on me.
I enjoyed Happy Talk again! :-)
hugs,
Tina
Tina – Thanks … I decided it could be fun to combine Ruby Tuesday with Heads or Tails and I’ve been collecting photos of ‘red’ things. I’m glad you enjoyed both parts of my post here … I appreciate your visit and comments.
