Tuesday's Thoughts and Ten On Tuesday

Make Time for Small Reflections
Ruby Tuesday is at Happily Retired Gal
(Scroll Down for Ten on Tuesday)
1. Although I intended to spend yesterday catching up on blog visits, two friends I've not seen for a while called around 10am & invited me to join them for lunch. I accepted ... leaving the house around 10:45 to look at cameras on my way meet them at BJ's at noon, after which I took one up on a offer to follow her home to discuss my 'computer issues' with her husband who's also having trouble with his Dell computer. When I arrived home (around 6:30pm) I spent the evening running Diagnostics until after 10pm w/o finding a specific problem yet. Guess I'll get back to that task later.

2. Because I find my Casio Exilim limiting when I try to take 'telephoto' or 'macro' photos, I'm thinking about buying a Nikon D60 and would appreciate any input about this camera, the Canon Rebel, and/or other similar cameras I should look at before making a purchase.

3. While clearing out my 'drafts' folder recently, I came upon this Quiz originally found at WillThink4Wine last July and decided to share today ... just because. If you decide to take the quiz, I hope you'll share your results in comments or (if you decide to post them on your blog) leave me a link so I can visit.

This week's Topic is ...
10 Things I want to do in 2009 ...
at Sacred Ruminations, here's an additional list.
1. buy a new camera that will allow me to take telephoto and macro shots that my Casio Exilim won't capture.
2. learn how to use it effectively by attending classes and experimenting ... taking LOTS of photographs & sharing on my blogs.
3. spend lots of time with my sister catching up, once she & her husband arrive home from their RV travels.
4. continue to reduce the clutter in my surroundings and simplify my life even more than I have already by spending 30-60 minutes daily sorting & getting rid of 'stuph' I no longer need or want.
5. attend the Writer's Workshop I've signed up for from February 19th through April 30th ... participating fully ... using feedback provided to improve my writing ... and perhaps meet others who would like to form a writer's group and meet regularly (once or twice a month) over the next year or more to encourage & support one another towards publication in whatever genres we choose.
6. return to Weight Watchers ... make healthier food choices, drink the water, reinstate my gym attendance in addition to continuing to take long walks with Molly ... (perhaps with my camera too).
7. cull the number of blogs in my 'reader' to a manageable number so I won't constantly find hundreds of new posts each time I open it and decide on a 'reasonable' schedule for posting on my own blogs so as not to overwhelm myself or others.
8. continue to keep a daily gratitude list in my journal and share at least one thing I'm thankful for each day as I've been doing in my sidebar here at Small Reflections. In the months ahead.
9. choose a word or phrase to keep me FOCUSED on my 'intentions' throughout 2009.
10. keep focused on a spirit of PLAYFULNESS & creative experimentation as I go about each of the items listed above.

I got exactly the same evaluation on the quiz that you got -- 6:49am. I'm sure there is a message there someplace, but I don't know what it is.
I'm also thinking of a new camera, so I'll be interested in any recommendations you get.

Good luck with the 10 things you want to do in 2009. I too started a healthy eating plan yesterday - I am determined to lose weight this year! :)

I cannot believe I got the same result as you again ;o)

You're 6:49 a.m.
You're the time of day right around sunrise, when the sky is still a pale bluish gray. The streets are empty, and the grass and leaves are a little bit sparkly with dew. You are the sound of a few chirpy birds outside the window. You are quiet, peaceful, and contemplative. If you move slowly, it's not because you're lazy ? it's because you know there's no reason to rush. You move like a relaxed cat, pausing for deep stretches that make your muscles feel alive. You are long sips of tea or coffee (out of a mug that's held with both hands) that slowly warm your insides just as the sun is brightening the sky.

Stop by later to pick up a new bling :o)

Isn't it funny how a quiet day ends up being a busy one! lol I don't know how many times I've planned to spend the day visiting blogs and catching up but then I end up with other plans. Glad you were able to meet up with your friends and spent such a nice time with them:-)

I won't buy any other camera but a Canon one, although I don't have the fancier ones...I have heard that the Canon Rebel is wonderful.

Best of luck with the 10 things you want to do in 2009! Last year I started with my "decluttering" resolution and I'm continuing it for this year. It feels so good to get rid of stuff that you no longer use or need:-) xoxo

I did a lot of research before I bought my camera. One thing I'll tell you...there are Nikon people and there are Cannon people. Both are good cameras. I personally like the Nikon because I think its color is much better. I would suggest reading reviews on Amazon. If I was to buy another camera today I would get the Nikon D90. I bought the D40 with the extra AF zoom lens. If you want to do macro photography you will want to get a macro lens. The D60 is also a very good camera!!

Your list of ten things seems very doable--and all fun, too. (I went through a MAJOR purge two years ago, and yes, it WAS fun! And FREEING!!) And by the way? I'm 6:49, too.

Will you cull me?

Excellent list! I completely agree with you on becoming a healthier eater and clearing the clutter...those are things we're going to need to work on this year, too!

Oh and I'm 11:59am. Not exactly a morning person...LOL.

If you need help choosing a camera I use several Nikon's. Go to my site it has my email and I answer any questions you might have. If you dont find what you need from Weight Watchers your local TOPS (taking off pounds sensibly)chapter can help, I lost 25 pds in 2008 with their help and they are cheaper.
Good luck with your list!

Isn't it great to get an unexpected invitation? I like how spontaneous that can be.
