Fun Monday
If you were ruler for a day/week/month/year (your choice on the time) you would...(for example)...make coffee free to all citizens. Or you'd abolish the penny. You may also specify if you're ruler of the world or just your country. Have fun with it; be creative. If you like to dress up, you may also choose to take pictures of yourself in your "ruler" outfit(s) and post them up with your entry.
If I was ...
... of the WORLD for a year, I'd make (and enforce) the following proclamations:
1. Everyone shall have enough to eat and a safe place to live, learn, work, and sleep.
2. All shall take personal responsibility for their words & deeds and display self-discipline & generosity of spirit with themselves and others.
3. Foul language and violence are banned ... in music, television, films, toys, etc. and replaced with words & images of peace, kindness, and creativity.
4. Personal priorities shall be re-examined and aligned with the highest good for all concerned. Revisions & decisions in our lives shall be made accordingly as changes are embraced and implemented.
5. Thoughts and language of limitation shall be replaced with thoughts and language of limitless possibilities.
6. Resentment, guilt, criticism, and fear shall be replaced with a willingness to perceive events and experiences from a wider collective perspective rather than from a personal egocentric view.
7. Differences shall be embraced & valued rather than shunned and/or feared. Engaging in conversation with others regularly is to be encouraged & facilitated ... with more emphasis given to listening than speaking ... and asking questions rather than making assumptions.
8. The word 'should' shall be replaced with the word 'could' ... reminding us that (while we don't necessarily control events themselves), we always have a choice about how to respond in every situation ... and the point of power is in the present moment (rather than past or future).
9. All shall S L O W D O W N ... remembering to breathe, relax, access 'inner wisdom' and think things through ... considering ramifications ... before taking action.
10. When 'errors' become apparent, all shall apologize genuinely ... using this as a model for our communication: "I made a mistake, I'm sorry, how do I fix this?" ... while remaining open to input from others we may have harmed & making appropriate 'amends' as needed.

I like all of your ideas on how to rule. I especially like #9 about beathing, thinking before taking action.
You really ARE Queen of Utopia!!!
Since I pretty much already follow all of your rules, I would single out number 9 as the one I really need to spend more time on. It's really hard for me to slow down!
If we could all just do a bit of those - just baby steps to a better world.
Lovely sentiments!
Wow, I really, really wish you were Queen as this would be a better world for sure. I agree with everything on your list.
Very nicely put - I agree with all your points... In particular the slowing down one...
Thanks for participating.
Long shall live the queen :o)
Of your edicts(all are worthwhile and needed) I could really get behind the ones for personal responsibility, living an examined life based on personal priorities, and respect for individual differences.
BTW, thanks so much for your thoughtful comments on my current challenge. You're so right about looking at this time as an opportunity for grace and personal growth.
I think that you would make a better queen than me. All of your edicts seem sound. I especially like #2,4,7, and 10. The quote by Louise Hay is so true.
Love your list. Now, I think I'll take the time to breathe a little.
Oh wow you came up with a great list of items! I'd live in your world. :)
Yes, a sincere apology goes a long way. Thanks for the reminder.
Excellent list! And sadly, many are ones the majority of society seem to have forgotten. :(
Very nice rules and very well thought out. I'm all about taking a breather and slowing down :)
To all – Thanks for visiting and sharing your positive feedback on my Fun Monday today. It seems as if #9 is the most popular idea that many commented upon. I’ve been in and out … visited many of you already and hope to visit the rest tomorrow morning before I leave for an afternoon gathering of friends in the ‘real’ world. I’m about to call it a day and turn the computer off … but thought I’d respond here first.
I hope you’ve each had an enjoyable day and appreciate you spending a bit of it here at Small Reflections. This was an excellent topic and so many excellent ideas were shared. Wouldn’t it be lovely to adopt some of the many ideas in our daily lives in the days, weeks, and months ahead and see what happens?
Hugs and blessings,
Oh, this is absolutely perfect...I could not have said it better myself. I love all your rules, all of them!!
Good list!
Good Morning, Storyteller.
It would be a blessing indeed for all people to have enough of what they need AND, at the same time, be responsible, self-disciplined and generous. That would be heaven upon earth. :)
One Bible verse which helps keep things in perspective for me is Galatians 6:10, "As we have therefore opportunity let us do good unto all men . . ."
Really, a little comment isn't enough to respond to all you have said here, but this will have to suffice for the moment, as I must leave for work shortly.
Thanks for the thoughtful post. :)
Storyteller,
I say we make you Queen of the World! Excellent list! :-)
hugs,

Thanks for your visit and supportive comments on my ‘rulez.’ Methinks I’d love to see this kind of world, but I wouldn’t want to be ‘in charge’ for real ;--)
Hope you’ve had a lovely day.
Hugs and blessings,
Lots good ideas here--though I think you'd have to go beyond being a Queen (like maybe, be a wizard with magical powers) to implement some of them.
Karen – Hmmm … Wizard with magical powers might actually be fun ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
