These are beautiful, and oh so thought provoking. I keep praying that global warming won't damage life to the degree that the doomsayers say it will. A scary time indeed for our planet.

I've posted my WW contribution here, and hope you'll drop by for a look:

It isn't anywhere near as thought provoking as yours, but I hope it brings you a smile all the same.

Have a great Wordless Wednesday!

All the best,

Carmi

These photos are as exquisite as they are devastating. Nice contribution to OSI. The pictures and the words together speak volumes.

Dear Storyteller,

I haven't decided what, if anything, to do for the prompt STRANDED, since the word stirs up such unhappy feelings.

You handled it very cleverly and educationally. :)

What wonderful pics Virginia....I feel cold just looking at them. They really do conjur up some interesting thoughts.

Carmi – Thanks so much for your visit and comments. I agree that we can’t ignore the signs and must do what we can to make a difference on a local level.

Raven – I appreciate your perspective and figure it’s important to pay attention to such happenings in our world.

Joyce - I had trouble with the topic this week until I went searching for images on the Web. I first found the Hurricane Heliocopter Rescue I shared at Sacred Ruminations today and later found these photos … so I did two WW/OSI posts this week. I guess the ‘teacher’ came out in me today ;--)

Joy – I wish I could say I took them myself, but (alas) I let my fingers do the walking through Photobucket this morning. This time I did it right and used the HTML code so if one clicks on the pictures, they take you to the ‘original’ source. Baby steps, right? I’m wondering if you’ve solved your problems with the awards in your sidebar and will stop by later to see.

Thanks to each of you for visiting and sharing your thoughts. I hope you’re having a wonderful Wednesday!

Great pics lady!! I've never really participated in WW, but could probably do it if I had a wordless Sunday & Monday lately. ;)

Isn't this a sad thing? Great post, and loved the photos.

Such beautiful creatures, mankind has a lot to answer for in destroying their habitat. :(

Your poem and photos actually brought tears to my eyes. How could we do this?

It's happening as we speak. I feel so helpless.

Great photos and haikus! I feel for the polar bears and their difficulty! :(

Climate goes in cycles. Nothing more. It has since the beginning of time. Just saying. Have a great WW. :)

Wow! What a great topic to touch on for your single impression. Those photos illustrate it perfectly.

What beautiful pictures...and oh so sad! I'm at a loss as to why so many people don't believe it and/or care about it!

Grandy – Thanks! Actually the Wordless Wednesday folk post Wordlessly every day of the week currently … calling it a Monday ‘edition’ … etc. So … feel free to join in any weekday you choose. The ‘Wednesday edition’ is the largest group by far however ;--)

Sandy (of Gardenpath) – Yes, it is sad … and the images a powerful reminder that our choices have impact in the world.

Akelamalu – I certainly hope we figure out how to ‘fix’ the problems we’ve created … sooner rather than later!

AndrĂ©e - Thanks so much for your comment … as for your question, I suppose because we didn’t realize what was happening.

Colleen – As each of us gains awareness and takes action on a local level to alter our habits, the collective impact can make a difference. I’m hopeful that we can turn the tide and save their habitat … impossible though it may seem.

the teach – I appreciate your comments and compassion.

Sandee – You may be right, then again … evolutionary changes do occur as the result of the choices we make (and avoid). I appreciate your perspective and am glad you left the comment.

Sandy of (Momisodes) – Thanks! This topic was harder for me than the previous weeks prompts, but once I started looking at photos … the ideas for each of my OSI posts emerged.

Karen – They are amazing photos aren’t they? I’m happy to have found them in Photobucket … and this time I used the HTML codes as intended so clicking on them takes you to the source. I assume that folks don’t know what to do … and the ‘ostrich’ response does have its appeal … (until one gets kicked in the rear end anyway).

I appreciate each of you visiting and leaving your comments today. If I’ve not been to your blog yet, I’ll be there as time permits. Life’s a bit busier than usual for me right now … but things will slow down eventually.

Those photos are just perfect for stranded and love your words to go with.

Teri – Thanks so much for visiting and sharing your perspective. I’ve looked for but not found your OSI post for ‘Stranded’ … but perhaps it will be in the OSI Mr. Linky when I check later today. I’m planning to spend some time this weekend catching up with others ;--)

Beauty pics and very sad at the same time...unless we actually do something that can prevent this.

how devastating to see them like this, you remind us what we all have an affect on the world

MoI – Amen to that! Awareness is always a first step and images like these might provoke thought.

Lissa – It’s easy to lose sight of what we don’t encounter first-hand … but we do need to remember the choices we make (and avoid) do have impact.

Sandy Carlson – Thanks … I’m glad I finally visited just about everyone’s OSI posts for the ‘Stranded’ prompt (albeit a bit late) because they were all wonderfully unique!

I appreciate your comments here. Thanks for visiting and have a delightful day.
