I’ve purchased and given away many copies of this book to others … most recently for my friend Carol.
Hugs and blessings,storytellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14101550406171982090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728583087900011692.post-35693990536172050522008-02-28T11:17:00.000-08:002008-02-28T11:17:00.000-08:00ahhhh yes, I found your post. i love this. what yo...ahhhh yes, I found your post. i love this. what you say at the top is true for me too. i want to believe everything she claims too and am working diligently to overcome diversity in my life by grasping on to it. this is a great reference book. i keep it in my nightstand. nice post :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05461238423288359578noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728583087900011692.post-69625920109517788752008-02-19T03:09:00.000-08:002008-02-19T03:09:00.000-08:00MoI – I’m not sure when you slipped this comment i...MoI – I’m not sure when you slipped this comment in (or how I missed it earlier) but I’m happy to have found it now. LOL

AtomiK Kitten – Several give me pause even now, but I like to keep an open mind about most things. I've got more to add about this at the end of these comments.

Tink – Much of what she shares appeals to me also … more so all the time as I “play” with the ideas and affirmations she suggests.

Peajay – I’m not sure she’d call a fractured spine an “illness” … but I do know she (and Joan Borysenko) believe “accidents” may happen to us because of “patterns of thought” we hold. I've got more to add about this at the end of these comments today, so please bear with me while I respond to everyone else first.

Joely – I so relate to this. I was healthy when I married, had serious “allergies” for the 21 years I was married, and they mysteriously disappeared when my husband walked out unexpectedly. Who knew? LOL

Sandy – I agree it’s challenging to remember to apply this kind of thing. That’s why I use post-its around the house to remind me of whatever I’m working on at the time. When I taught, I used those calendars with a reminder a day that I could tear off and carry with me … post prominently and sometimes even pass along to friends (or even occasionally strangers I encountered).

Nicholas – Me too! I have a friend with cancer currently and my prayers for her recovery are constant.

Chelle – Ah yes, letting go of the past and practicing forgiveness have become regular practices in my own life, and I believe the benefits are self-evident.

MoI – I have trouble with those thoughts myself. For me, some of this is a matter of perspective. I’ve come to focus on the thought that we’re “spiritual beings having a human experience” rather than the other way around … and from that larger perspective I’m willing to entertain the possibility that my spirit chose my life challenges in order to learn whatever … even if I would have preferred to skip them (if that makes any sense).

Kat – I’m happy to know these thoughts “resonate” with your experience and extend your thinking. I love visiting T-13s and Haiku Fridays to check in weekly.

I appreciate each of you sharing your thoughts and reactions to this information. As I indicated at the beginning of the post, I’m certainly not convinced of ANY of this … but I’m unwilling to reject the ideas either. “A few of them still give me pause, but I've come to embrace fully numbers 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 11, and 12 ... while allowing the others remain possibilities for now.”

My sense is that Louise Hay believes none of this is “conscious” until we make it so and each of us comes “arrives here on earth with an agenda to work through” … indicating a “spiritual perspective” beyond this life. It is what it is. Her story at the end of the book certainly gives one pause … for she was diagnosed with cancer and used these ideas to “recover” if you will.

Anyway … thanks to everybody! I love the "discussion" aspect of such topics and am happy you all feel free to express diverse points of view, enriching each of us who receives follow up comments in email. I hope you’re having a delightful day and that the weekend is wonderful.
I hope you’re having a delightful day and that the weekend is wonderful.
Hugs and blessings,storytellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14101550406171982090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728583087900011692.post-85882524577728260842008-02-15T06:28:00.000-08:002008-02-15T06:28:00.000-08:00WOW! Life happens, sometimes things just don't go the way you plan.

"Remember that you are an actor in a drama of such sort as the Author chooses: if short, then in a short one; if long, then in a long one. Nothing could be simpler … although embracing her ideas (and this thought) is anything but easy at first.

Miranda – I remember. I’ll check your T-13 in a little while. I just returned from running errands after my WW meeting and need to think about lunch pretty soon.

Sandy Carlson – You’re quite welcome, and the feeling is mutual! I always take something meaningful away from your T-13s and think about it for days afterwards.

Susan – I so relate to what you’ve written here. My first experiences with little miracles (when grocery shopping late at night alone) were “end slots” near the door of the store that opened up just as I arrived.
