Fortunately the winds did calm down for most of the day allowing fire-fighters to gain some control & containment, however the danger remains if winds kick up again tonight and that’s quite probable given the weather conditions and location. I’m no longer watching the television so I don’t actually know what’s happening right now but it’s so WINDY here that I’ve moved my patio furniture so it won’t blow away.

Interesting … I wrote this response last night but must have been interrupted and didn’t publish it before I turned off the computer & headed upstairs and now I find two more comments this morning … so I’ll continue by including

Akelamalu and Lisa -Thanks for dropping by this morning while I was amending a post I’d already written for today at Small Reflections and creating one for Sacred Ruminations. Both have been published.

I’m saddened to report that a new fire broke out around 10pm last night north of Los Angeles just below the foothills of Angeles National Forest. So far 10,000 people to be evacuated from their homes and the fire is burning on three fronts. The good news is that the fire is headed for an area that burned last month … so that could be a natural fire break to stop this one eventually. The bad news is that there’s been almost total devastation of 600 homes in the Oakridge Mobile Home Park. What a heart break for those older retired folks who were safely evacuated, but have lost everything they owned. I wish I had better news.
Hugs and blessings,
storytellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14101550406171982090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728583087900011692.post-78838647199885687122008-11-15T07:12:00.000-08:002008-11-15T07:12:00.000-08:00Seems CA always has fires, one of the reasons I wo...Seems CA always has fires, one of the reasons I wouldn't want to live there. The good news at the moment is the winds have decreased so that planes can drop fire-retardant on the perimeter (in case winds pick up again later) and helicopters can drop water … assisting firefighters on the ground. Currently the fire is still out of control and several people have been injured in addition to the many homes destroyed, yet help from surrounding communities is in the area assisting local fire departments. So far, no other fires have broken out … and THAT’s good news too. I’m located in Orange County … about two and a half hours south of Santa Barbara. Thanks for your concern and prayers.
Hugs and blessings,
storytellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14101550406171982090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3728583087900011692.post-41723752069141422722008-11-14T10:43:00.000-08:002008-11-14T10:43:00.000-08:00I heard about that this morning (we still have no ...I heard about that this morning (we still have no tv).
